Helmsley business named Independent Hotel of the Year
A HOTEL in the region has won Independent Hotel of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa took the prize at the 2011 Catey awards, which are considered to be the hospitality industry's equivalent of the Oscars.
More than 1,000 hoteliers attended the event held at London's Grosvenor House on July 5.
The award was presented by actor James Nesbitt to outgoing Managing Director, Simon Rhatigan.
Simon Numphud, Hotel Services manager at AA Hotel Services, said: “The Feversham Arms is a great example of an independent hotel that has continued to evolve and improve through reinvestment in both its product and its people.
“As a result it has become well established as a leading hotel, both locally and nationally, commercially successful and above all a great hotel that others can look to emulate and be inspired by.”
It has so far been a successful year for the Feversham Arms Hotel, having already won Small Hotel / Townhouse of the Year at the White Rose Awards, Silver award for Small Hotel of the Year at the Enjoy England Excellence Awards and Best Luxury resort Spa at the World Luxury Spa Awards.
The hotel was also voted in the top three UK resort hotels at the Sunday Times Travel Reader Awards.
Catherine Feather, Deputy General Manager said: “I’m absolutely delighted to win, we have all worked very hard to get to where we are today. Eight years ago if anyone had told me this would be possible, I wouldn’t have believed them, but here we are.
