Big Springs , Texas is known as the Lighted Poinsettia Capital. Comanche Trail Festival first began, the dam at the big spring had 4 huge poinsettias made of construction rebar welded together in the shape of a poinsettia flower each having 5 leaves. The leaves were decorated in red lights.The flowers were an incredible site to anyone entering Big Springs from the north. Over the years aditional flowers were added until there were a total of 11 flowers on the dam and countless more throughout Comanche Trail Park, thus making it the Christmas Poinsettia Capital. I am a 64 year old, wife, mom of 6 , grandma to 21, and great grandma to 2.I have been married for 32 years this year to my best friend George.We are living in the family home he was raised in. I retired as a cook for the county in a local Senior Center and was assistant to our Meals on Wheels Program director. I also am Director of the Senior Handchime Group and we enjoy traveling to all the local nursing homes and assisted living centers to put on fun musical programs. I love to craft and will try about any type of craft at least once.My favorite crafts are crafting for Holidays especially for the Christmas Holiday. I am an avid collector of teapots, cups and saucers, thimbles,Holiday Barbies and antique dolls( the little girl in me), Nativities, Noahs Arks, cookbooks. glass baskets and sad to say the largest collection seems to be dust bunnies.
